Your machine stays yours.

Pingly watches for a hook to fire and shows you a card. That is the entire surface area. Here is exactly what it does and does not do.

No login
There is no account to make. There is no server to log into.
No cloud
A local HTTP server on 127.0.0.1:47821. It refuses anything with an Origin header.
No analytics
Nothing is counted, sampled, or phoned home. Not even a version ping.
Nothing leaves your machine
Your prompts, your code, your file paths — Pingly reads none of it.
Backups, automatically
Every config gets a .pingly-backup before a single line changes.
Clean disconnect
Removes only its own hook entries and restores what was there before.

Why Windows shows a warning

Pingly isn't code signed yet — a certificate costs a few hundred dollars a year and this is a free beta. So Windows will throw up a blue box that says “Windows protected your PC”. That box appears for every unsigned app, not because anything is wrong with this one.
